About
These large-scale, colorful impressions were taken at the Funtastic Carnival at Waterfront Village in Tom McCall Park during 2005 and 2006. The candid photographs, largely done “from the hip”, show the wide range of people who come to the event and experience a feeling of expectation, thrill, excitement, and even boredom.
"Ever the traditionalist, I nevertheless make frequent forays from more classical photographic work in landscape and portraiture. I began this and other related series as a need to “step outside the tradition” and to explore a more highly expressive and fleeting glimpse of the human condition."
Currently Program Head of Photography at Lewis & Clark College, Robert Miller formed the photography department over 23 years ago, and established a program that continues the foundations of traditional photography while also incorporating newer technologies in the medium. He received his BFA in Photography at the University of Oregon and his MFA from the Art Institute of Chicago.
