Don’t miss the last weekend to see the combined artist show of Jim Clinefelter & Sachiko Kadoi at the Pro Photo Supply Store Gallery. This month we feature the work of two film photographers and friends Jim Clinefelter and Sachiko Kadoi. Even though they are oceans apart, their beautiful use of film will both captivate your senses and tell the stories of their surroundings. Be sure to stop by the Store to meet Jim and talk about their show.
Sachiko Kadoi – Artist Statement
“Through the lens I encounter a second nature, and I speak to it. After I take a photograph I remain still and look at all that I am seeing, and I think of the end of existence, and of the continuation of life.” – Excerpt from the book “Kadoi Sachiko – Photographs 2003-2008”
Jim Clinefelter – Artist Statement
“These photographs are from an on-going series entitled “The Magnificence of One’s Neighborhood” – photos taken in a 20 block radius of my home in NE Portland. What we have here are photographs that capture things we see every day – signs, letters, a store window, parts of buildings, and so on.”
“Art” is around us every day, not just at the museum.
When I was in Tokyo this past spring, one of my friends asked me, “What do you look for in a photograph?” I replied, “Art that is clear, concise, and to the point.”
