By October 12th 2012, the Condit Hydroelectric Project which once dammed up the White Salmon River in WA, will no longer slow down the river’s mighty flow. To date, this will be the largest dam ever decommissioned, standing at 125 feet tall. To help document this historic event, Pro Photo Supply has sponsored Andy Maser and Steve Stampfli who have deployed time-lapse equipment along the river. The time-lapse footage will document the entire deconstruction process and the river restoration that follows, this documentation will be a powerful tool for those non-profits and communities proposing dam removal and restoration projects in their area. With the dam removal taking place, it’ll open the river back up to spawning salmon, restore the White Salmon River, and even open new stretches of white water for kayakers.
