Black Magic Pocket Camera
After the success of their first camera, the Blackmagic Cinema Camera, Blackmagic Design introduced the itty-bitty Pocket Camera. This pocketable, Micro Four Thirds-mount cinema camera features both ProRes and raw shooting capabilities, a super-16 size sensor, and full electronic compatibility with all M4/3 lenses. Adapters are also available to attach a myriad of lenses from other manufacturers. Image quality is excellent thanks to the high bit rate codec and 13 stops of dynamic range. The Pocket Camera records to widely-available, UHS-1 SD cards and uses the affordable, Nikon-type EN-EL20 battery. The small size and ease-of-use make this camera perfect for documentary, run-and-gun style shooting, or as a crash cam on larger budget productions (although, please don’t use our rental units as crash cams).
The GH3 is a year old, but just recently became available to rent. It features a 16MP M4/3 sensor which produces good still images and video. The previous GH2 was a hit among independent filmmakers, thanks in large part to a hacked firmware that allowed it to shoot at high bit rates. The GH3 includes a 72mbit/sec, all-intra codec out of the box. Combined with built-in slow motion and time lapse functions, the GH3 is a powerful tool for all walks of filmmakers. When used with a Metabones Speedbooster lens adapter, the GH3’s equivalent frame size matches the Super-35 format—perfect for filmmakers looking to imitate the “Hollywood look” without the budget for a real cinema camera.
Micro Four Thirds Lenses
We now rent a variety of M4/3 lenses, a perfect compliment to your Pocket Camera or GH3 rental! Currently, we have the Panasonic 7-14mm f/4, 12-35mm f/2.8, and 35-100mm f/2.8 (pictured).
The excellent Bowens Limelight Mosaic LED panels are now available to rent. With 526 LEDs, the Mosaic puts out up to 5200 lux and is color temperature adjustable from 2800k to 5600k. This is a great constant light for both studio and location video.
Also new from Bowens is the 400rx monolight kit. Featuring 400 watt-seconds of power and 5 stops of adjustability, this studio or location flash is powerful, portable, and simple to use. The lights include built-in Pulsar radio receivers for reliable, wireless triggering.
You can contact the rental department directly at email@example.com, and gear can be reserved up to 1 month in advance.
