At last count, I was the proud owner of six camera bags. A backpack, a messenger, a belt pack, a compact shoulder bag, and two accessory bags. I would like to say that I’ve found the bag that can replace them all. But, I haven’t. What I have found is a seventh bag I would really like to own: the Tenba Messenger DNA.
Tenba promises that this new line of messenger bags is lightweight, functional, extremely durable, and stylish. And frankly, I agree. The DNA is available in three different sizes: the DNA 8 is perfect for mirrorless kits, while the 11 and 15 offer greater carrying capacity for DSLRs and big lenses. All feature a water-resistant exterior, heat-reflecting weather cover, and removable camera compartment. The larger sizes have space for a tablet or small notebook computer.
One of my favorite features of this bag is the top flap, which is zippered to allow you quick access to the main gear compartment without having to swing open the flap itself. Magnetic Fidlock® clips hold the flap in place and allow for incredibly quick attaching/detaching. The shoulder strap can be easily removed if not needed and includes a security strap to hold the bag snug against your body when, say, riding your bike.
There will probably never be a bag to fully satisfy all the needs of the modern photographer, but you would be hard pressed to find a better messenger bag than the Tenba DNA. (Coincidentally, you could win a Tenba DNA 11 by entering our self-portrait photo contest which runs through the end of March.)
