July 2015 Monthly Photo Contest Winner – Paul Garcia
We’re finally able to unveil the winner of our Fireworks photo contest! Only a full month late, but better late than never, right? A huge congratulations to Paul Garcia, who’s wonderful photo captures the awe, amazement, and uncomfortable loudness of backyard fireworks. There is just so much to love about this Americana-filled photo, right down to the Superman and Spiderman t-shirts.
Please tell us a little about yourself. What kind of photographer are you and what do you love to shoot?
I am a wedding, event, and concert photographer. I enjoy shooting weddings the most. Just being able to capture a moment for someone that will mean so much to them for the rest of their lives is amazing.
From concept to pressing the shutter button, how did you create this image?
I knew I was going to get some fun images of my kids as we were lighting off fireworks. It didn’t really dawn on me to shoot from behind the fireworks until I actually lit one and saw their reaction through the haze. I shot this with my Canon EOS 6D and Canon 70-200mm lens.
What was the post-production process for this image? What software did you use or what adjustments did you make (if any)?
Just did some basic adjustments and sharpening in Lightroom
Where can people go to see more of your work?
