2012 Canon "Catch the Color" Photo Contest

Our favorite time of year is when the tulips bloom! Send us your best photo taken at the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival.

A maximum of four (4) photos total may be submitted.

DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES: May 18th, 2012

CATEGORIES INCLUDE:

  • Flowers: Show us interesting, unique and beautiful pictures of flowers at the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm. They can be shot using macro lenses and modes, or consider a zoom, wide-angle or creative lenses. Don’t limit yourself and get creative!
  • Details & Macro: Getting in close is the trick for this category. We welcome pictures of small details that tell a larger story. Don’t limit yourself to just flower shots, think abstract; a water drop, insects, leafs, ice crystals, etc. Anything goes as long as it is a tight composition. Remember that a macro image of a flower might also go into the “Flower” category.
  • Landscape & Field: These pictures include landscapes, sunsets, field shots of the tulips and may also include hot air balloons or other major landmarks in the fields.
  • Catch All: This category is for the pictures that may not fit with the other three categories. But remember it must be taken at the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm and may include landmarks such as the Tractors, Windmills, Wooden Shoes, or pictures with People and Animals etc.

Then. Now. Here. Project

Then. Now. Here.

Then. Now. Here. is a celebration of photography as a unique medium and tool that can help us explore and examine who, and where, we are.

The premise is simple- show us your photographs of Portland and its people, THEN or NOW. This spring, as a component of Portland Photo Month, we've invited a guest juror, Raymond Meeks, to curate a slideshow from these images. This slideshow will then be presented on our site, as well as displayed around the city throughout the month of April in the form of public projections

There is no charge to submit photographs and the submission process is open to anyone. The only rule is that all photographs should be made in or around Portland, whatever that means to you. For each photograph submitted, please include the photographer's name and year the photograph was made (if known). Caption information is welcome, but not necessary. Found images are acceptable and encouraged, but please attribute them as such. We welcome submissions of historic images from individuals or organizations.

DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES: Submissions Closed

Submissions are accepted via email only, with a maximum of 10 photographs submitted by any one person. All submissions should be saved as .jpegs with maximum dimensions of 600 pixels high or 1000 pixels wide. Color space will be srgb.

2009 Embrace the Blur Photo Contest

2008 1st Place Winner
Bruce Beaton

Embrace the Blur

Demonstrate your creativity with blur photography. That's right, instead of avoiding the blur, embrace it! So show us your inspirational photos that "embrace the blur" with toy cameras, through the finder, tilt/shift, night shooting, depth of field, Holga modding and anything else you can think of, just make sure the focus is blur!

Blur can be used to show how life feels more than how it looks. Use it to draw the eye, create a sense of motion, and show life more for how it feels than how it looks.

This photo contest is sponsored by Lensbaby, makers of awesome selective focus lenses. If your submission is selected for this theme, you might get the New Lensbaby Composer Lens or the .42x Super Wide Angle Conversion Lens.
